A preview of the fun coming up on One World Day (August 23)

On June 30, over 185 people gathered in the German Cultural Garden in Cleveland to celebrate the 99th year of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.

They listened to the music of the 24-piece Cleveland Donauschwasbe Blaskapelle (brass band) and heard from speakers such as Honorary German Consul Diana Thimmig, Cleveland Councilman Tony Brancatelli, Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation president Sheila Murphy Crawford and German Garden delegate Hans Kopp.

Then they gathered by the huge Goethe-Schiller monument and holding 99 red balloons sang along as the band played the 1983 hit 99 Luftballons (99 re balloons) by Nena.  What a moment!

They then enjoyed traditional German food.

Now multiply the fun had that day by 30 or so and you will see what One World Day on August 23 will be like when all the Cultural Gardens are involved.

Cleveland Cultural Gardens to celebrate 2015 Annual One World Day

Cleveland, OH – Since 1946, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens have celebrated One World Day in the Gardens. August 23, 2015 has set as the 2015 Annual One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. This annual event reflects the theme of the Gardens: “Peace through Mutual Understanding.”

The annual One World Day, the official event for the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, is the highlight of the busy calendar of summer events in the Gardens and the one occasion that all the Gardens get together to celebrate as one. Events include a Parade of Flags, a naturalization ceremony, cultural performances, entertainment and more.

This year’s One World Day will be produced by two icons of the Cleveland international scene: Johnny Wu and Ken Kovach.

Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation president Sheila Murphy Crawford said “With the expertise and inspiring enthusiasm of our new producers, Ken Kovach and Johnny Wu, the 2015 One World Day Celebration in our historic Cultural Gardens is bound to be a smashing success and definitely the place to be for the summer season.”
